Eu sou fã da inglesa Radiohead, desde que fui abduzido pelo clipe de “Karma Police” em 1997. Da minha geração (jovem nos anos 90), é a predileta, que botou o hino “Creep” pra resumir tudo: “I wish I was special, but I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here? I don’t belong here”. Tenho todos os discos, vou ouvir sempre, curtindo todas as faces: da eletrônica experimental ao cancioneiro folk/piano, da música para desaparecer ao rock que não pertence a nenhum lugar por ser esquisito.
Thom Yorke é um dos vocalistas mais incríveis que amo, um timbre diferente, miado, dolorido, que me embala no desconforto da existência e que sempre escuto com satisfação. Formado na cidadezinha de Abingdon, beira-rio, junto com os geniais irmãos Greenwood, o bom camarada Ed e o elegante batera Phil, o Radiohead é uma referência na arte, um deleite para um esteta.
Depois de Bob Marley & The Wailers e Pink Floyd, é o que há de mais importante na música para mim. A cabeça de rádio faz a minha cabeça: adoro escrever ao seu som. Música triste me faz feliz. Perfeita para embalar a contemplação, o pensamento, a imersão; flutuo e faço arte nessas ondas sonoras. Na pandemia em 2020, tive a sorte de malhar no apê com o som dos shows do Radiohead no YouTube, bom demais (veja aqui)!
